Pool History & Amenities
Myerstown is proud of
the wonderful park area and lovely community pool. We are grateful to the
Myerstown Lions Club for providing such a great place for family fun in the
summer time.
On July 4th, 1957, the swimming pool opened for the first time,
and has been a favorite spot to congregate on a hot summer afternoon for all
these years. If you visit the swimming pool you will find immaculate grounds
surrounding a refreshing, well-kept swimming pool that has a twelve-foot
section as well as a more shallow section, which is 3 feet. There is also a
"baby pool" in a separate section of the pool grounds to make it safer for the
little ones. Next to the "baby pool" is a small play area for the tots, which
includes a sandbox.
There is a well stocked snack bar where you will find some
great snacks, and which is always open during the pool hours. You will also
find a bathhouse with a hot shower, mirrors, sinks, benches and toilets.
There were many men who went far above and beyond the call of
duty when it came to community spirit and loyalty to their "hometown". Without
their vision, hard work and financial investment Myerstown would not have this
very special place to offer those looking for a pleasant summer afternoon
and/or evening. Henry Lindermuth, has given uncountable hours, and years from
the bottom of his very kind heart to our community pool, and never asked to be
repaid. We thank Henry and all before him and with him that have been so
dedicated.
